Get ready for the 2026 School Sport Survey
There are now just six weeks to go until the 2026 School Sport Survey opens and begins collecting the views of children and young people from across Wales.
With every school in Wales invited to take part, we’re aiming to create the most comprehensive picture yet of how young people feel about sport and physical activity. Below you’ll find everything you need to ensure your pupils can take part and have their say.
Why your school should take part
Taking part in the School Sport Survey offers clear benefits for your school and your learners. The survey fully supports the Curriculum for Wales, helping schools reflect on and understand:
-What sports and activities pupils enjoy
-What they’d like more opportunities to try
-Where they enjoy being active
-How they feel when taking part in sport and physical activity
Every participating school receives a school specific data report, helping you plan and shape your sport and physical activity offer based on real pupil voice.
The survey also gathers valuable information on:
-Local facility availability
-Potential links with community clubs
-Other local resources that can strengthen your school’s approach
Nationally, the findings help guide key decisions made by Sport Wales and the Welsh Government on future investment in sport and vital facilities.
What’s new for 2026
The 2026 School Sport Survey is our most accessible and engaging version to date. Improvements include:
-15 additional language options beyond Welsh and English

Bronze Young Ambassador Conference 2026
Shwmae Pawb!
Our Bronze Young Ambassador Conference is back for 2026!
What are Young Ambassadors?
The Young Ambassadors programme is all about empowering young people across Cardiff to be the voice for PE, school sport, physical activity and movement in their schools and communities! A youth leadership movement, YA develops future leaders through sport, physical activity, and play. It inspires young people to lead, mentor, and advocate for a healthier, more active Wales by creating opportunities that build confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging.
Your Young Ambassadors will be asked to support break and lunch time activities, encouraging play, including and influencing others to join in. They can also support during PE and after school clubs if you wish, leading the warmup and supporting the set up and packing away of activities.

There will also be other opportunities for your young people throughout the year to gain recognition for their hard work. We want this to be led by the young people, we will be taking their lead on what they want to receive.
2026 Conference Dates:
East Cardiff: 23/03/26 - NIAC Cardiff Metropolitan University
West Cardiff: TBC
Each conference will run from 10:00 - 14:30 with parents and schools being able to drop their young people off from 9:30. Teachers and parents are not required to stay with their young people but are more than welcome to if they wish.
