Anti-Bullying Week 2026: Break the Silence
ABA are official organisers of Anti-Bullying Week and Odd Socks Day in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Anti-Bullying Week 2026 will take place from Monday 16th to Friday 20th November with the theme: Break the Silence. The week will kick off with Odd Socks Day on Monday 16th, with adults and children being encouraged to wear odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique.

This year’s campaign - Break the Silence - will encourage children, young people and adults across the UK to start conversations about bullying, speak up, listen and take action together.
The theme was developed in collaboration with the anti-bullying sector and shaped directly by the voices of more than 200 children and young people, many of whom spoke about the silence that can surround bullying and the barriers young people face in asking for help.
Organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, which is coordinated by leading children’s charity the National Children’s Bureau, Anti-Bullying Week has become one of the largest children’s wellbeing campaigns in the UK, reaching an estimated 8 million children and young people and over 80% of schools each year.

Millions of children and young people experience bullying every year. Many never tell anyone.
They stay silent when they are being bullied, when they see it happening, and sometimes when they feel drawn into it themselves. When silence persists, bullying can grow.
In today’s world, bullying can happen in new and more complex ways. It happens face to face, online, and through new technologies. And in a world that can feel more divided and less kind, young people feel the impact.
But we can change that. When people come together, speak openly, and choose kindness, bullying loses its power. Every conversation, every act of support, and every voice raised against bullying makes a difference.
This Anti-Bullying Week, we are encouraging everyone to start the conversation about bullying. We are calling on children and young people to speak up and share their experiences, and on adults to listen, support, and act.
Across schools, communities, and organisations, people will come together to take meaningful action against bullying and create kinder, more supportive environment where all children and young people belong.

How can you Break the Silence?
As part of the campaign, free resources for schools, parents, carers and organisations will be released in the lead up to the week, including films, lesson plans, assemblies, activities and discussion tools. We will also develop a media, social media and community-based campaign to help bring Anti-Bullying Week to life whether you're at home, work or in school. Watch this space!
Anti-Bullying Alliance patron, CBBC and CBeebies star Andy Day will lead celebrity support for the campaign, with his band Andy and the Odd Socks. The band will be releasing a toe-tapping song to mark Odd Socks Day on the first day of Anti-Bullying Week. There’s a serious message behind the fun: let’s pull on odd socks to show we’re ALL unique and different, and let’s be kind to each other and respect each other’s individuality.
For older children, the buzz on social media is an important part of Anti-Bullying Week, and a great opportunity for schools to share how they’ve embraced the anti-bullying message. It was easy to get involved via #AntiBullyingWeek and #BreakTheSilence on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter (X) and Bluesky.

Odd Socks Day
What is Odd Socks Day?
Odd Socks Day marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week. Odd Socks Day 2026 is taking place on Monday 16th November. It is supported by cBeebies presenter & ABA patron Andy Day and his band 'Andy and the Odd Socks'.
What is Odd Socks day?
Most importantly, Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!
There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or to buy expensive costumes. All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks to your school, at work of at home, it couldn’t be simpler! Odd Socks day will take place on the first day of Anti-Bullying Week each year to help raise awareness of bullying. We would like to invite participating schools and workplaces to ask participants to make a £1 donation - or any donation you think appropriate - to support us in continuing to coordinate the week every year.
You do not have to raise money to take part - the most important thing is the message of Odd Socks Day - and any money raised for us is a bonus! Make sure you encourage other schools in your local area to get involved!
In 2025 over 5 million children, 1,000s of parents, 100s of workplaces and lots of celebrities and influencers got involved. In previous years we've had Ant and Dec, Emma Willis, Brian May, Craig David, Sir Mo Farah and Annamarie donning their odd socks! Don't miss out highlighting the important issue of bullying in such a fun way.
We will provide you with everything you need to make Odd Socks Day 2026 a big success whether you're at school, at home or at work. Watch this space!

NFL Flag Teacher CPD
Course Overview & What is Included
Format: One-day entry-level practical workshop (typically 9:00 am – 4:00 pm).
Audience: Primary and secondary teachers, PE leads, and local coaches.
Free Equipment: Starter kit with footballs and flag belts upon completing the official school agreement. (for schools who have not already received)

We appreciate that changes to our eligibility criteria for secondary schools entering our competition pathway caused difficulties. We will announce in September our changes to this system to better suit our schools.

Drowning Prevention Week
RLSS UK’s Drowning Prevention Week is an annual, water safety campaign designed to educate children and young adults in water safety and lifesaving skills.
Drowning Prevention Week educates children aged 5 to 17 each June with crucial water safety advice just before the summer holidays, when young people are outdoors more and need these skills and knowledge most, so everyone can enjoy water safely. We're calling on all carers, schools, lifesaving clubs, leisure operators and water-related businesses to participate.
Save the Date: Drowning Prevention Week is happening from 12-19 June 2027.
RLSS UK exists to prevent drowning and support everyone to enjoy water safely. We are committed to saving lives by leading in lifesaving, lifeguarding and water safety education, and we aspire to have communities free from drowning. With your support we can achieve this.
Drowning is preventable and nobody should drown.

This exciting tournament gives schools the chance to compete against others from across the Cardiff & Vale area for a place in the next stage of the national pathway.

Our Bronze Young Ambassador Conference is back for 2026!
What are Young Ambassadors?
The Young Ambassadors programme is all about empowering young people across Cardiff to be the voice for PE, school sport, physical activity and movement in their schools and communities! A youth leadership movement, YA develops future leaders through sport, physical activity, and play. It inspires young people to lead, mentor, and advocate for a healthier, more active Wales by creating opportunities that build confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging.
Your Young Ambassadors will be asked to support break and lunch time activities, encouraging play, including and influencing others to join in. They can also support during PE and after school clubs if you wish, leading the warmup and supporting the set up and packing away of activities.
I have also attached the Young Ambassadors Curriculum Matrix; this shows how the programme can support the Curriculum for Wales in your school. Furthermore, the programme also supports the development of integral cross-curriculum skills, giving your young people lifelong skills.

Rewards:
We will be asking each YA to submit their hours once a month, this enters them into our Young Amabassador of the Month draw where they can win a goodie bag and a certificate recognising their hard work.
There will also be other opportunities for your young people throughout the year to gain recognition for their hard work. We want this to be led by the young people, we will be taking their lead on what they want to receive.

Each conference will run from 10:00 - 14:30 with parents and schools being able to drop their young people off from 9:30. Teachers and parents are not required to stay with their young people but are more than welcome to if they wish.

TCS Mini London Marathon Competition Launch
I have an exciting update from London Marathon Events re TCS Mini London Marathon in Schools. For the first time ever, schools can participate any time between Monday 23 February and Friday 1 May, allowing more flexibility for schools to fit it into their busy calendars.
Last year, almost half a million children registered to walk, jog or wheel two miles at their school for the TCS MLMIS. 18,358 Welsh children took part across 106 schools. In 2026, the aim is to inspire more children to take part!
This year, the local authority with the most school registrations (as a percentage of their total schools) will receive the Wales trophy! I have attached last year’s registration numbers per local authority, plus a brief info slide.
